Easton Preparatory Academy is known for being small, structured, and focused. Classwork and assignments are framed around relatively short timelines, with clear, consistent, expectations. The atmosphere is one of adults in charge, teacher directed- child focused. The curriculum is a medley of constantly evolving research and material as well as traditional programs that have always been a part of the Easton experience. The faculty work together to create an interdisciplinary course load that reinforces and builds upon a sequential academic experience.
Easton is known for having a very selective admissions process with only a 30% acceptance rate of students. Easton does not admit students for 11th and 12th grades and very rarely for 10th grade.
Each grade has approximately 30 students, many of whom attend Easton for the full course of study, thirteen years. A financial aid program ensures that the population remains heterogeneous; as with many of its peer NYC schools, however, most of the students have parents who can afford the high tuition. The school is private, functioning under a New York City non-profit statute enacted in the 1940s. Easton is controlled by a Board of Trustees, and the school is administered by a Headmaster.
Easton's Upper School (high school) curriculum consists of English, Math, Science, History, Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish or French), Classics (Latin or Ancient Greek), Music, Visual Art, Drama, Technology, and Physical Education.
The school mascot is the Owl and the school colors are gray and chartreuse. Students are expected to meet a standard of dress that includes pieces purchased from the school catalog.

![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) eastonprep is a small community based on the life of the junior class at Easton Preparatory Academy in the heart of the Upper East Side. More information about the school can be found here. We have a few planned events for the community that will shake up different characters in different ways. Once you are a member, if you have something you would like to see happen, feel free to let us know! These events may range from high school antics to the very serious.
Overall community membership will be capped at 30 members. Connections and storyline posts can be made in ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) thehoot.
We will also be monitoring the balance of males and females as characters are added. For future reference, when a character is removed from the community the open spot will become an invitation-only opening. This means that a new person must be invited by a current writer in the community and the new character must be connected to a current character. We ask that no writer have more than 2 characters in the community.

To apply, you will need a short blurb about your character that provides a glimpse into their background, interests, etc. Please make it appropriate to the setting of the community. It wouldn't work for a character to be a complete slacker as the school is a competitive one or for everyone to be a scholarship student. Post it in an unlocked post in your journal.
